Dr Ada-Mari Schoeman Inc. is a community-focused family medical practice based in the heart of Patensie in the Eastern Cape, proudly serving the greater Gamtoosvallei region. Situated approximately 100km from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), the practice provides essential medical care to patients in a rural setting — from general consultations and emergency services to women’s health, sonar, vitamin drips, and preventative care.

Dr Ada-Mari Schoeman’s medical journey began in 1994 when she earned her MB ChB degree at the University of the Free State. She completed her housemanship at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein and went on to work in rural Free State before moving to Canada, where she practiced as a family physician in Manitoba from 1999 to 2004.

In 2001, her husband inherited a citrus farm in Patensie, prompting the family’s return to South Africa. What started as a move back home turned into a lifelong calling to serve the people of Patensie and surrounding areas. Since 2002, Dr Schoeman has been practicing medicine in Patensie, building long-standing relationships with her patients and becoming a trusted healthcare provider in the region.

In 2012, she founded Women 4 Life, an all-women’s clinic in Port Elizabeth, where she consults every Wednesday. Her dedication to accessible, empathetic healthcare was recognized in 2020 when she received the Primary HCP Excellence Award. That same year, she played a key role in establishing a local COVID-19 centre in Patensie, in collaboration with fellow GPs and the local farming community.

Dr Schoeman is deeply passionate about medicine and committed to the well-being of her patients. She is supported by a close-knit family, and her daughter has followed in her footsteps, developing a shared love for healthcare and service.
